"You really know how to sell a guy," Adrian said as he turned back to his car, shaking his head. Did he want to be a hunter? For some reason the idea of being a hunter didn't sit well with him. There was something off about it. But...Jefferson had said there were worse things out there. How many kids had this ghost thing gotten before Jefferson had stepped in and done something about it?
He leaned against his car and looked down the street. He watched the people walk down the sidewalk, the cars drive by, the bikes make their hazardous way through traffic. How many of them knew about this? Probably a lot. But how many believed? He certainly hadn't until about half an hour ago when he'd had a ghost on his ass. Now he was all too convinced that there were worse things out there. And this guy was offering him a chance to do something about it.
"Yo," Adrian called, turning back around. "This gig pay?"

Jefferson couldn't help but smile at the question Adrian had just asked. That question proved to Jefferson that Adrian was going to stay, even though Adrian hadn't said anything yet. Having the ability of empathy within him gave Jefferson a good view of people, although he still didn't have full control of it. Jefferson couldn't help but smile at Adrian, for the answer to the question wasn't one most people wanted to hear.
"This "gig" doesn't technically pay. Our form of payment is limited to how many guest the hotel gets, how much you win by gambling, and how effective you lie to the bank to get credit cards. I have about ten of them under different names. So if you want payment, I will be glad to give you as much as you need. For food and shelter, the hotel is your shelter, and anything you want to eat is on the house. All I'm asking is that you help me out during hunts, and to find the Winchester brothers." Jefferson held out his hand, "So do we have a deal?"

Adrian smile grew wider and wider the more Jefferson talked. "You're serious?" He asked, a huge smile on his face as if someone had just told him he'd won a trip to Disneyland...if he'd cared about Disneyland. "You mean you make gambling and credit card fraud your job? That's how you stay in smokes and tricks?" Adrian started laughing out loud as he turned and climbed into his car.
"Dude," he said leaning out his window, "I think I could come to like you. I'm gonna go throw my toothbrush in a bag and tell my bitch land lady to stop fucking herself so loud her residents can hear her through the walls and then I'll be back. We most definitely got a deal." He had taken his sunglasses off sometime in between the house and the hotel. He put them back on now and lowered the top on his car as he started it up. "Oh," he turned to Jefferson, "I'm stopping by Micky D's to pick up a McFlurry. It's been a hot day. You want anything?"

"I'm serious. That is the only way we keep on surviving. I mean we can't exactly go to the unemployment line and hope for the best." Jefferson held back the laughter that was starting build inside of him. He couldn't believe that he now found someone to spend time with. Sure the alone time was fun, but it was boring, especially since talking to one's self was a serious sign of insanity. Now if he ever did ask a question, it wouldn't be followed by the words: I don't know Jefferson, that's a fine question.
Zoned out for awhile, Jefferson missed the first part of Adrian's small speech, but did catch the last part. Did he want something from Micky D's? The more he thought about it, the more his mind told him no. Saying no to Adrian, Jefferson walked back to the hotel. He needed to start making all the preparations for Adrian, especially since credit fraud took a lot of paper work.

Adrian was sitting in his apartment complex parking lot with his feet hanging out the side of his car, gulping down his delicious frozen edible plastic when he heard an odd voice whisper in his ear. He turned around quickly, now on the lookout for more ghosts, but there was nothing around him.
The voice came again, almost too quiet to make out, and he just barely understood the name, "Winchester." Adrian slowly continued to eat his McFlurry, determined to look like he wasn't hearing anything in case the owner of this mystery voice was somewhere close by but his ears strained to catch more and there was an unusual quiet inside his mind as he waited for the voice to come again. But nothing came even though he sat there long after he'd finished the McFlurry and the fries he'd bought to go along with it.
Adrian got up and threw the empty, cardboard cup in a nearby trash can before heading up to his apartment. He pulled out his half packed suitcase and threw more things in it. He always kept it at least half packed in case he ever decided to suddenly move or travel. Good thing he knew himself so well.
The place was paid through to the end of the month. He figured he didn't have to move his stuff all at once and he could probably let one of his buddies use the place if they needed it. He always seemed to have friends that needed a place to crash and an empty apartment sounded ideal.
He closed his laptop and threw everything it needed to keep him connected to the outside world in a backpack along with his toothbrush and some underwear and t-shirts so that he wouldn't need to unpack his suitcase right away. He knew himself, he could be pretty lazy.
Back outside he threw both bags in the backseat and headed back to the hotel. When he got there he parked in the back this time next to Jefferson's car and dragged his bags through the door. "Honey I'm home!" he called. He took off his sunglasses and looked around the hotel, nodding his approval, a genuine smile coming on his face. "Dude, when are we throwing our first hotel party?"

Jefferson had just finished the paper work, and was about to start duplicating badges for Adrian, when he walked in. Smirking at the "Honey, I'm home" remark, Jefferson placed all the paper work aside, making a mental note to mail it later. There was nothing else to do but to clue in Adrian on everything they are about to face, especially since Jefferson wasn't able to help him every second of the hunt. Studying Adrian was easy, the guy seemed to be the rebel of society. Just to prove the thought right, Adrian had asked about a party. Laughing out loud, Jefferson shook his head.
"A party? Yeah right. Who exactly are we going to invite that can be trusted to not go through that door?" Jefferson pointed to the door leading to the basement. Always leaving it lock was a security measure for Jefferson, but a party would could keep him busy enough for someone to pick the lock and go inside. Now that he had mentioned the door, Jefferson thought it would be a nice place to teach Adrian everything, training will come later on the field. Walking over, Jefferson opened the door wide enough for Adrian to see the stairs.
"Inside here is where I keep all of the weapons, books, charms, hex bags, salt, iron, etcetera. Now not only do I keep those items down there, but some are hidden in a secret compartment in my trunk. I'll take you down there and fill you in on everything, and show you what can be used to kill certain creatures. Just walk this way and we will begin the tour."

"Woah woah woah," Adrian said holding up his hands. "If we throw the party upstairs then you won't have to worry about your precious basement. I mean seriously, are you so paranoid or have so many enemies that you're worried about someone going after your hex bags?" Adrian asked in disbelief.
"Whatever, if we can't party here we got go out. We just beat a ghost man, lighten up. My friend let me know about a crazy Rhodes Club party tonight. They are having a wet t-shirt contest. What do you say, first round on me," Adrian said as he walked further into the hotel with his gym bag over his shoulder. "Jefferson, I like you, but I'm starting to get the vibe that you don't know how to have fun. Dispel the vibe Jeffy. Change into something you want some nice little lady to want to take off you and let's get out of here."

Jefferson couldn't help but laugh. It had been so long since he actually had fun, if he ever had fun to begin with that is. How could he not let Adrian throw a party? Looking over at the basement, Jefferson decided to trust Adrian, and closed the door. He could always tell him everything later, plus a party sounded nice right now.
"Fine, we'll throw a party. I have two conditions though: You invite all the guest and bring all the food. I'll help you entertain and eat the food. Also if you need money, take it from the cash register when the boss isn't looking. By the way, I'm not looking right now." Jefferson said with a smile. A party sounded nice, and it was time for him to relax a bit. There was nothing left to do but to sit back and a allow Adrian to have his little party.

"My man, that sounds awesome." Adrian already had his phone out and he was sending pics even as he walked over to the stairs that led to the other parts of the building. "Thanks for the offer man but you've been good already. Don't want to strain your hospitality or nothin'." Adrian was surprised to hear he meant it. Most of the time he would have just taken anything the guy offered and not looked back but this seemed different. He wanted to stay on good terms and he didn't relish the thought of owing anybody anything. Besides, in Egypt you got your hands cut off for stealing. There had been talk of changing the law and they may have done it by now but Egyptians had been cutting off the hands of thieves for longer than the Europeans had known to pee in a ditch away from the river. Changing a law was not gonna change the culture and everyone grew up knowing thievery was a no-no or at least be careful not to get caught.
"My friends can provide. We have a deal, you don't pay for stuff if you host. I'm slash We are hosting so we don't pay. Let them bring the food and the alcohol. I'll provide the location and the girls. Connections," he said holding up his phone. "They are paying for my connections."
That settled Adrian went to go find his room.
