Despite the fact that he sounded like he was defending the idiot back at the hotel, Teagan couldn't ignore the logic in what Miles said. She was still angry at Aiden, and that was something that would not disappear overnight. But he had sounded sincere. And hurt. And...well, desperate. The same way that Yuki and Teagan had a year ago when they all split up.
"It's not completely the same," she stubbornly protested. "I did all I could to avoid coming here. I followed every other tip I received on my parent's location until they all converged here. At that point, it was either give up on my parents or hope that I wouldn't run into the coven. Eventually...it just got hard to leave." Teagan had to admit she was now extremely fond of San Diego.
But she also had to admit that Miles had a point. Of course she was worried. Who wouldn't be, knowing they might die within a week? "I'm not going to say you're right on this...but if he does want to help, whatever. Let him help." She gave Miles a sideways glance. "But only because I don't want you to be disappointed when you discover I can make myself untraceable."
Teagan stood from the bar she sat on and gazed at the traffic in the street. "I don't want to die. If you think him being here can protect me, Miles, so be it. I didn't bring you here to ignore your advice." A person pushing an ice cream cart walked by, prompting Teagan's stomach to remind her that she stormed out before breakfast. "I'd better get back and make sure that jerk hasn't eaten the rest of my cereal."
